Raising boys

Having two boys (or three if you count my husband) has been a wonderful journey so far...tiring...but interesting and exciting to say the least.  As my first born started his academic career last year in JK I started becoming more and more interested in how boys learn, how our school systems are setting them up for success/failure etc and how we as parents can ensure they develop a thirst for learning.  I recently came across a great website for parents/teachers/mentors of boys.

This site features Canadian info which is great and provides many interesting articles/info about how to mentor boys to become caring, courageous and ethical men.

I have subscribed to their free newsletter and plan to buy the book at some point.  Let me know what you think if you check it out.

Aravind - South Indian Restaurant on the Danforth

There were some great reviews for this resto in Toronto Life and so my husband and I decided to give it a try on Thursday.

Aravind is now located where the second location of Mong Kut Thai on the Danforth used to be ( Pape and Danforth).

We started with the Calamari and Crab Cakes
- Crab cakes were spicy and fantastic, Calamari was okay for me.

For the mains we tried the Dungeness Crab Biryani which was fantastic and the Dosa which was also good but could have been a little bit thinner/crispier- but still very yummy.

Overall it is a fantastic local option for us that we are pretty excited about.  They also try to use as much local fare as possible (lots of freshwater fish options).

Definitely give it a try!!

Falafel - Another Great Blue Menu Product

My neighbour just recently introduced me to this new product.  I have been trying to incorporate more vegetarian options into our diet and this is a really quick (10min) and easy (toaster oven) tasty lunch option for me as a stay at home mom.  I made it with whole wheat pita, hummus, cucumber, tomato, lettuce, avocado, and a little feta.  Yummy!
